The BRITISH MOTOR CORPORATION & LEYLAND AUSTRALIA
factory at Zetland (Waterloo) in Australia from 1950 to 1975
This site provides a brief summary and history of the Zetland factory, the cars and people of the British Motor Corporation and Leyland Australia.
Surviving only 25 years, from March 1950 to March 1975, it was the only fully British component of "The Big Four", which also included General Motor's Holden, Ford and Chrysler.
The factory, built on the site of the Victoria Park race track at Zetland, was only 3 miles (5 km) from the centre of the city of Sydney and was one of the major employers in NSW in its heyday, and many people owed their success to the training and experience gained at this magnificent facility.
